Self Defense Workshop - Taking Authority, Final Review
Thank you for attending the Self Defense Workshop and allowing me to share my skills by blessing you with some beneficial countermeasures against armed attackers. My workshops are of variety and usually never follow the same lesson plan. Therefore, the next workshop will focus on totally different approaches by an assailant, so be sure to sign the guestbook or send an email that your name can be added to the next workshop calendar announcement.

Pros and Cons to Realistic Training
Teaching martial has always been one of my greatest highlights throughout my 37 years of martial arts training. I enjoy sharing my skills and always consider myself blessed to be a blessing. I've trained over a thousand students and earned the respect of each one from youngest to oldest. My training antics have never changed from the time I opened my first dojo in 1983 regarding full contact approach in self defense and reality training. This would involve illustrations of defensive techniques and allowing my students to apply the techniques on me after I attack. I've taken a great deal of physical abuse through the years with eye gauges, kicks and knees to the groin, throws, finger and joint locks, scratches and head butts to the face in order to ensure students achieve the level of confidence to deploy the techniques in a life threatening situation and survive.
Click on the photo to the right and view the MMA magazine footage with Grandmaster Ron Van Clief and me training two brutal days of ground fighting tactics. Always a student of the martial arts regardless of title, rank or position.
Many have asked when I will stop allowing my body to be used as a human practice aid. Well, I guess the appropriate answer would be when it stops allowing me. Have a blessed day, Hanshi :-)

Office Fitness Break
All, I have introduced the public to my new fitness plan for the office environment. Naturally, the training can be conducted at anytime and any location with internet capability. Nevertheless, my intent is for the office with minimum space. In addition, the exercises I introduce will not produce excessive sweating, so there will not be a need for an immediate shower after the training (smile). Actually, each session will not exceed 10 minutes. My goal is to give employees an alternative outlet from routine smoking and over eating at the desk. The training sessions will target the upper, middle and lower body muscles with sessions in muscle conditioning, muscle strengthening, and relaxation.
Equipment requirement: As I mentioned previously with my scope of the Office Fitness Break being a short office workout session, which means there will be no special equipment required other than the basic office furniture e.g. desk, rotary chair, books, and a telephone.
Finally, I will do my part in posting a five day work week training session for you to work. Please, take the ten minutes and work the plan... you can do it! Also, let other office workers, friends and families in on the free training sessions. Click on this link for the training http://www.tenshogoju.com/officeworkout.html . Don't forget to let us know how you enjoyed the training by signing our guestbook. Have a blessed day.

Students were introduced to the back lateral, lateral side step, and lateral cross step. Furthermore, the applied steps were combined with the side palm block, rising block and palm up block. See video clips for review and practice.

Peacemaker Self Defense Workshop
Students of Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma had the opportunity to engage in an extensive hands on Self Defense Workshop with Grandmaster Thomas Felder and Luis Lopez. Techniques delivered were based on sudden grabs from various approaching directions. Felder's methodology is quite unique when it comes to presenting his self defense workshop, as his techniques delivered are carefully catered to the participating audience. Specifically, simple assaults, date rape, obnoxious behavior resulting in physical grabs and pulls are more prone to be experienced in a college campus, as well as rape, said Felder. Therefore, techniques against purse snatching would not be a focus point for college self defense workshop. Felder routinely illustrates defensive applications and the students are given the chance to apply each technique in a realistic form as the Masters attack them aggressively. Felder believes in realistic training, and for this cause you will never see him wearing protective garments during his self defense teachings.

Tensho Goju Demonstrations and Self Defense Workshop Kick Off
Tensho Goju is kicking off with a bang in 2010, with Self Defense Workshops and Demonstrations making news headlines. Felder has been blessed to be a blessing in sharing his talent with the Lawton and Fort Sill Community, along with his assistant Luis Lopez Colon, which began training at the Tensho Goju academy in late January. It is truly a unique period in having two Grandmaster's of Goju with same rank working side by side with the same focus. Hanshi Lopez is a Chaplain for the US Army. Since his arrival at the Tensho Goju Headquarters he has assisted Hanshi Felder with the Self Defense Workshop at Cameron University and the Total Self Defense Workshop at Fort Sill. God is good!
